Postdoctoral

The Hamza Lab seeks postdocs to lead innovative projects deciphering how cells sense, traffic, and respond to heme during growth and development. You will work on collaborative, multidisciplinary projects examining how cells traffic, sense, and respond to heme during growth and development, integrating cell biology, genetics, genome-wide RNAi/CRISPR screens, and genomics across multiple model systems. You will collaborate within the rich D.C.-Baltimore research corridor (NIH, FDA, JHU). While we encourage candidates to seek external funding (e.g., NIH, AHA, ERC, HFSP), internal support is considered case-by-case. To apply, please email Dr. Hamza with your CV, publication list, a summary of research experience, and contact details for three references. Join us in mapping the elusive pathways of heme homeostasis across diverse model systems.

Graduate Students

I accept graduate students through the following programs: GPILS at UMB and ANSCMOCB and CBBG at UMCP. If you are specifically interested in being directly admitted to my lab for a PhD or Masters degree, contact me.

Undergraduates

Since Sep 2022 my lab is now physically located in the School of Medicine in Baltimore. Volunteer positions may be available. Paid work-study positions are advertised as they become available. If you are interested in independent study or senior thesis projects, please contact me. Such projects involve a commitment of at least 15 hours per week in the lab, for two academic years.
